FDU LACROSSE DOWNS KING'S, 17-1

WILKES-BARRE -- John Damiani scored seven goals and added an assist to lead the FDU-Florham men's lacrosse team to a 17-1 victory over host King's College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.

Damiani scored the first two goals of the game to give the Devils a 2-0 lead but King's struck net on a goal by Carlo Ciotoli to cut the margin to 2-1 with 5:10 remaining in the first period. But Bobby Gorcica scored with 2:46 left to give the Devils a 3-1 lead heading into the second period.

From there, FDU outscored King's 5-0 in the second period on three goals by Damiani and a goal and assist from Derek Havran to build a 8-1 lead at the half-time break. The Devils would put the game away with eight goals in the third period as Peter Knowles scored twice and added an assist in the spurt to push the score to 16-1 entering the final frame.

Havran helped guide the Devils with four goals and three assists while Knowles added four goals.

King's goalie Steve Matusiewicz made 20 saves in net for King's. FDU goalie John Apple had six saves in three quarters of action while Bob Moseman played the final quarter and had four stops.

The Monarchs fell to 2-10 overall and 0-9 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. FDU improved to 7-6 and 6-2 in league play.
