KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO MANHATTANVILLE
WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting Manhattanville College
had five different players scored two goals each as the Valiants posted
a 10-6 Middle Atlantic Conference victory over King's College Wednesday
at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Manhattanville improved to 7-3 overall and 1-2 in the MAC
while King's fell to 3-5 and 0-3 in league play.
King's would grab a 2-1 lead in the first quarter
on goals by Curtis Reinard and Rusty Booth, but the Valiants outscored
the Monarchs 3-1 the rest of the half as Vinny Menzenski's goal with
4:49 on the clock would give Manhattanville a 4-2 lead at the break.
Luke Dorfman would scored his second goal just 0:52 into the second
stanza to push the Valiant lead to 5-2, but Booth scored his second goal
for King's just 0:16 later to cut the lead to 5-3.
Manhattanville, however, would respond by scoring
four of the next five goals to build a 9-4 lead heading into the fourth
quarter. The Monarchs used back-to-back goals by Brenda Novotny to close
to within 9-6 with 10:28 left, but Menzenski scored the final goal of
the game with 9:06 on the clock as neither team would find the back of
the net for the remainder of the contest
Dorfman paced the Valiants with two goals and two
assists while Menzenski added two goals and an assist. Max Garofalo,
Joey Hasbrouck, and Andrew McMillan also netted two goals each for
Manhattanville. Andrew Predun made six saves in goal for the Valiants.
Booth topped King's with three goals, followed by two from Novotny and
one goal and one assist from Reinard. Chris Landry, Kris Skewes, and
Rich Brower all contributed with one assist each for the Monarchs. Tim
Cassi registered 15 saves for King's in the game.
Manhattanville held a 34-28 advantage in shots and led 39-37 in ground
balls.
