KING'S LACROSSE FALLS TO LYCOMING
WILKES-BARRE -- NCAA Division III leading scorer Dan Cannon tallied
five goals with three assists as visiting Lycoming College posted a
17-11 victory over host King's College in the Middle Atlantic Conference
opener for both teams Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Lycoming improved to 6-3 on the year while the Monarchs
slipped to 3-3.
The Warriors jumped out to a 5-0 lead and eventually took a commanding
8-1 lead after the first quarter. Lycoming would outscore King's 4-2 in
the second period to take a 12-3 into the halftime break.
Andrew Stoner added three goals and two assists for Lycoming while Ed
Williams netted three goals. Nate Walter tallied two goals and two
assists while Jim Cusick registered three assists to pace the Warrior
attack. Lycoming goalie Kyle Gilfoy posted 11 saves.
King's was led by Chris Landry with five goals while Curtis Reinard
followed with four goals and one assist. John Doran contributed two
goals and six assists while Rusty Booth and Keith Hoerburger chipped in
with one assist each. Monarch goalie Tim Cassi made 16 saves on the day.
Lycoming outshot King's 43-31 and held a 41-33 advantage in ground
balls.
King's will next travel to Grantham to face Messiah College Saturday at
1:00 p.m.
