KING'S TORE ALAIMO NAMED TO D3FOOTBALL.COM ALL-REGION
TEAM
WILKES-BARRE
-- King's College football standout Tore Alaimo has been named to the
D3Football.com All-East Region Team as a first-team selection.
A 6-0, 250-pound inside linebacker, Alaimo recently concluded an
outstanding career at King's with a record-setting senior year. Alaimo,
who returned to King's after receiving a medical red-shirt from the NCAA
after missing the 2006 season with a serious shoulder injury, led King's
in tackles for a third straight season. He finished the 2007 campaign by
establishing a new King's single-season tackles record with 127 stops,
breaking the previous record of 118 tackles set by former King's
three-time MAC all-star linebacker Chad Ormond in 1996. In the process,
he also posted a school-record 73 assists, surpassing the previous best
mark of 59, also set by Ormond in 1996. Alaimo also broke King's career
tackles record with 354 stops, besting the mark of 306 by Ormond from
1993-96.
He also set the Monarchs career mark of 167 assists, surpassing the
previous best of 132 set by Ormond form 1993-96. Alaimo also moved into
second-place on King's list list for career solo tackles (187), trailing
only former Division III National "Defensive Player" of the Year Steven
Wilson who registered 190 solo stops from 1999-2002. Additionally,
Alaimo concludes his career with 19.5 tackles for loss five
interceptions, four fumble recoveries, five quarterback.
Alaimo is a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference first-team selection
and was a third-team all-regional selection in 2004 before garnering
second-team all-regional honors 2005.
"Tore enjoyed a remarkable career for us on the
field as a player and leader and to overcome the type of adversity he
has had to deal with in terms of overcoming injuries and making personal
sacrifices, it is very rewarding to see him recognized," King's head
coach Rich Mannello stated. "Tore is the type of person who lives each
day of his life trying to get better at everything he does. He is one of
those players you hope to have a chance to coach, and when you do, you
come away knowing that you will be lucky to ever get another one like
him."
With his first-team selection, Alaimo will be placed on the ballot for
the 2007 D3Football.com Division III All-American Team.
