Haywood (Chester/Cardinal O'Hara) continues to receive
post-season accolades as the Monarch standout has been named to the
D3Football.com All-American Team as a third-team selection.
It marks the fourth all-American team Haywood has been selected to in the
post-season. He was previously named a first Team American Football
Coaches Association selection; a first-team
Associated Press Little All-American; and a third-team D3Football.com
All-American.
Haywood also
played in the 2006 Aztec Bowl as part of a Team-USA Division III
all-star squad that posted a 28-7 victory over the Mexican National Team
in Aguascalientes, Mexico on Saturday.
Haywood, completed a banner 2006 season in which he was named a
All-Middle Atlantic Conference choice for the second consecutive season.
Playing strong safety, Haywood posted 67 total tackles, including a
team-best 44 solo hits. He also registered a King's single-season record
of 12 interceptions, the third-best total in MAC and the most in all
divisions of college football this season. Haywood was also highly
effective during interception returns, averaging 17.4 yards per-attempt.
He set a King's single-game
record with three interceptions, reaching the milestone twice during the
year in victories over Susquehanna and FDU-Florham.
Haywood
concluded his King’s career with 158 tackles and a school-record 19
interceptions.
