(Renninger Honorable Mention ECAC)

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College football standout Tore Alaimo (Pittston/Pittston Area) picked up a pair of post-season honors as the Monarch junior was named a first-team Eastern College Athletic Conference all-star, while also being selected as a third-team D3Football.com All-East Region selection.

Additionally, senior center Nick Renninger (Whitehall/Whitehall) was an honorable mention on the ECAC team.

A two-time first-team Middle Atlantic Conference selection, Alaimo enjoyed an outstanding season for the Monarchs.

Alaimo also set a new Monarch single-season mark with 69 solo stops while adding 43 assists. He also totaled 6.5 tackles for losses of 24 yards, 2.0 sacks for 18 yards in losses, two fumble recoveries, and an interception.

On the year, Alaimo posted four games with 15 or more tackles, including a career-high 17 stops October 29 against 2005 MAC champion and NCAA quarterfinalist Delaware Valley. Alaimo also set a King's single-game record with 15 solo tackles on September 17 against Moravian College.

"Tore enjoyed an outstanding season and has been a tremendous leader by example," King's coach Rich Mannello stated. "Tore's work-ethic is second-to-none and he is very deserving of these great honors. This is the first season he has been healthy for us and we were finally able to see him at his best with his ability to make plays sideline-to-sideline. We are very happy for Tore because of the effort he has made to become a top-notch player at this level."

Renninger, who had previously been a first-team All-MAC selection, was selected to the ECAC squad after helping the Monarchs average 423 yards of total offense per-game. he also helped junior tailback John Ortiz to the MAC rushing title with a 123.8 yards per-game average.
