KING'S FOOTBALL POSTS 28-27 WIN OVER LEBANON VALLEY TO END FOUR-GAME SLIDE

ANNVILLE -- Richard Jackson scored the go-ahead touchdown in overtime and Lebanon Valley missed on the game-winning two-point conversion as the King's College football team held on for a 28-27 victory to snap a four-game losing streak Saturday in Annville.

With the win, King's improved to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference while Lebanon Valley College fell to 3-4 and 2-4.

After dropping their last four games by five points or less and all within the last 1:30 of each game, the Monarchs once again flirted with another heartbreaking defeat when Lebanon Valley tied the game at 21-21 on a two-yard run by Eric Laird and a successful two-point conversion with just 0:17 left in regulation.

King's would strike first in overtime when Jackson scored on a 12-yard run and Bobby Nawrocki's conversion kick gave the Monarchs a 28-21 lead. Lebanon Valley would assume possession and scored on a 25-yard pass from Dan Kelly to Dave McCullough. The Flying Dutchmen would elect to end the game by trying another two-point conversion rather than attempting to kick the extra-point and once again tie the game. With the game hanging in the balance, Kelly's pass to Adam Brossman fell incomplete as the Monarchs finally walked away with a victory.

Lebanon valley took a 7-0 lead when Kelly hit Brian Murphy with a 27-yard touchdown pass with 7:15 left in the second quarter. The Monarchs would answer with 1:42 remaining in the half when Chris Barnic found Blake Letchford for a 21-yard scoring toss, followed by a Nawrocki conversion kick.

King's would take advantage of an interception by Tore Alaimo and grab a 14-7 lead when Jackson scored on a two-yard.

The Flying Dutchmen would later answer when Kelly and Brossman hooked up for a 22-yard pass, but Eldin Brodlic missed the game-tying conversion kick as King's held on to a 14-13 advantage with 6:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Monarchs appeared to put the game away when Barnic scored on a one-yard run and Nawrocki's kick game King's a 21-13 lead with just 1:46 left in the contest.

The Flying Dutchmen would take over at their own 28 and moved to the King's 36 on three straight completions by Kelly. Lebanon Valley would later move to the Monarch two on a nine-yard pass from Kelly to Luke Rendine. On the next play, Laird hit pay dirt and the Dutchmen connected on the two-point conversion to send the game to overtime.

Lebanon valley outgained King's 360-to-327 in total yards and held a 22-16 advantage in first downs.

Jackson paced King's with 146 yards on 38 rushing attempts with two scores and surpassed the 1,000-carry mark for his career. Barnic completed 8-of-22 passes for 126 yards. Letchford added five catches for 81 yards.

Kelly completed 15-of-28 passes for 231 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing for a team-high 49 yards on 17 carries. Brossman made seven catches for 119 yards.

King's will next host Susquehanna University Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
