WELSH, COUSART POWER KING'S PAST KEAN, 74-60
(Monarch Prep for Wednesday Showdown With Wilkes)

WILKES-BARRE -- Jim Welsh scored a game-high 20 points while Jamie Cousart added 18 to lead the host King's College men's basketball team to a 74-60 victory over Kean University Saturday evening in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 7-6 while Kean slipped to 9-4.

King's jumped out to a 31-16 half-time lead on the strength of seven points each from Cousart and Kofi Dwebeng.  But Welsh would take over in the second stanza, netting 15 points over the final 20 minutes for King's.

John Soboleski aided the Monarch attack with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting with 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Dwebeng finished with nine points and three assists. Vince Sobocinski tallied eight points and two assists.

Cousart also contributed  seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals while Vince Scalzo chipped in with four points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Kean was led by Bryan Keller with 11 points while Bryan Miller and Lamar Wright added 10 points each.

King's returns to action Wednesday when the Monarchs host cross-town foe Wilkes University at 8:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
