KING'S MEN'S BASKETBALL DROPS OPENER TO LINCOLN, 72-69
ELIZABETHTOWN -- Sami Wylie and Thomas Hickson combined for 43 and
points and Lincoln University made a three-point half-time lead hold up
as the Lions defeated King's College 72-69 in the opening round of the
L.B. Smith Ford Classic Friday at Elizabethtown College.
King's struggled offensively in the first half as the Monarchs shot just
32.1 (9-28) percent from the field, falling behind 33-30 at the break.
In the second half, however, Lincoln would get to the foul line and made
13-of-24 attempts over the final 20:00 of action. King's, meanwhile,
struggled offensively all game, particularly from three-point range
where the Monarchs attempted a whopping 41 long range shots, making just
six in the game. Over half of King's shots came from three-point range
as the Monarchs were 25-of-70 from the field.
The Monarchs greatly missed the presence of 6-6 sophomore center John
Soboleski who did not play due to a minor injury. Lincoln would take
advantage by controlling the inside, posting a 52-42 rebounding
advantage.
Jamie Cousart led King's with 18 points and six rebounds while Thomas
Moore contributed nine points and seven boards. Vince Sobocinski had
eight points and five rebounds while Kofi Dwebeng added seven points,
six rebounds, and four assists.
Wylie posted a game-high 22 points for Lincoln while Hickson added 21
points and 15 rebounds. Kyle Myrick added 11 points, five rebounds, and
five assists for the Lions.
