KING'S OVERWHELMS DREW CAGERS 82-49
WILKES-BARRE-- The King's College Monarchs easily dispatched of Drew University
82-49 Saturday afternoon in MAC Freedom Conference basketball action at
Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's remained in sole possession of first-place in the
Freedom Conference, improving to 19-4 overall and 10-2 in league
play. Drew slipped to 2-21 and 0-12.
The Rangers were able to stay within ten points of
King's midway through the first half. With 10:32 remaining, forward
Thomas Moore's dunk increased the Monarch's
lead to 25-15. From there on, King's refused to look back with a
25-5 run to close the first half.
It was more of the same for the Monarchs in the
second half as Jim Welsh's field goal with 8:59 remaining increased their
lead to 73-36.
Brian Horgan continued his strong senior season
scoring a team-high 17 points with seven rebounds and two steals.
Marty O' Hora chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds while Vince
Scalzo had ten points and four assists.
Craig Clemente paced the Rangers with 14 points, two
rebounds, and one assist.
The Monarchs continue their season on Tuesday night
at 8:00 p.m. as they travel to play MAC Freedom Conference rival University of Scranton
in a pivotal game for playoff position.
King's holds a two-game led over the Royals, as well as a one-game
advantage over DeSales with two contests remaining in the regular-season.
