KING'S PLACES SIX IN DOUBLE-FIGURES IN 97-79 WIN
OVER DEL-VAL
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's
basketball team put together perhaps their most balanced effort of the
year as six double-figure scorers led the Monarchs to a 97-79 victory over
Delaware Valley College Saturday in Scandlon Gym.
With the win, King's improved to 14-4 overall and 5-2 in Freedom
Conference play. Delaware Valley slipped to 7-11 and 2-6.
King's build a 57-39 first-half lead as Brian Horgan netted 15 of his
team-high 23 points in the opening stanza.
Horgan, who added eight rebounds, three assists, and three steals,
surqassed the 1,400-point mark for his career. Vince Scalzo had an
outstanding game with a career-high 19 points with eight rebounds.
Landon Gabriel also netted a career-high of 16 points with six assists.
Marty O'Hora finished with 13 points and four rebounds while John
Soboleski added 12 points on 8-of-10 foul shooting while Thomas Moore was
solid with 10 points, including a 35-foot three-pointer at the first-half
buzzer, with five boards, and four assists.
Delaware Valley was led by Isaiah Pinckney with a game-high 31 points,
including 6-of-6 from three-point range. Randall Graves added 14 points
while Mike Zupa chipped in with 12 for the Aggies.
