KING'S MEN POST BIG ROAD CONFERENCE WIN AT LYCOMING

WILLIAMSPORT -- Brian Horgan led four double-figure scorers with 21 points as the King's College men's basketball team posted an important 70-58 road win over defending MAC Freedom Conference champion Lycoming College Wednesday in Williamsport.

With the win, King's improved to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play.  Lycoming fell to 11-3 and 2-1.

Horgan was outstanding in the first half in leading the Monarchs to a 35-24 lead at the break by scoring 18 points on six-of-nine shooting, including four three-pointers.  

In the second stanza, the Monarchs  would eventually build its biggest lead of the game at 53-35 on a three-pointer from Vince Scalzo with 12:41 remaining. Lycoming would whittle the lead to 53-41 on a three-point play from Curtis Mays with 10:40 left, but the Monarchs would extend the lead to 17 points when a Horgan three-pointer with 58-41 lead with 9:04 on the clock.

The Warriors would  cut the lead to nine points on three occasions but would draw no closer.

Horgan, who added six rebounds on the day, moved into eighth place on King's all-time scoring list with his 1,362nd point.

Landon Gabriel added 13 points and four assists while Marty O'Hora also netted 13 points.  Scalzo chipped in with 12 points and five boards.

Mays led the Warriors with 16 points and seven rebounds. Lycoming's leading scorer Jonathan Pribble netted 15 points to lead Lycoming but score just two points in the first half.  Brad Musser added 12.

King's will next host Freedom Conference pre-season favorite DeSales University Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
