BALANCED MONARCHS ROUTE MISERICORDIA
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's basketball
team used a balanced attack to make their home debut a successful one as
the Monarchs downed College Misericordia 82-53 Tuesday in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 2-1 while
Misericordia fell to 2-1.
Marty O'Hora paced King's in the first half with 11
points and nine rebounds as the Monarchs raced out to a 40-25 half-time
lead. Brian Horgan, who played just three first-half minutes before going
to the bench after picking up his second person foul, led a 26-2 run to
start the second half. Horgan netted 10 points in the run as King's took a
66-27 lead with 9:47 remaining on a bucket by Jamar Stokes.
Horgan led King's with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting
and canned five-of-six three-pointers. O'Hora was equally outstanding with
15 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. Dave Marks scored 132 points
with seven rebounds, while Stokes netted 13 points, including two dunks,
along with six boards. Britt Moore came off the bench to add 11 points.
Misericordia was led by Shawn Hayes with nine points
while Ed Corliss and Josh Hendrick netted eight points each.
King's will return to action Monday when the
Monarchs host Lincoln University at 7:30 p.m.
