COLD SHOOTING SECOND HALF DOOMS MONARCH MEN

SELINSGROVE -- The King's College men's basketball team were unable to make a one-point half-time lead hold up with a dismal second-half shooting effort as the Monarchs dropped a 73-61 verdict to host Susquehanna University in the championship game of the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Saturday in Selinsgrove.

The Monarchs took a 35-34 lead into the half-time break but shot just 27.3 (9-33) percent from the field in the second half. Overall, King's converted just 5-of-28 from three-point range and were outrebounded by Susquehanna 47-26. Dannie Evans scored a game-high 19 points while adding three steals for the Monarchs. Brian Horgan followed with 14 points and five steals in just 22 minutes of play to earn a spot on the all-tournament team. Jamar Stokes added 11 points, six rebounds, and three assists to join Horgan on the all-tournament team.

Chris Zimmerman led Susquehanna with 18 points while tournament most valuable player Phil Sander followed with 16 points.

The Monarchs will make their home debut Tuesday when King's hosts College Misericordia at 8:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
