KING'S MEN POST IMPORTANT 82-56 WIN OVER SCRANTON
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College moved one step
closer to one of the top two seeds and a first round home playoff game as
the Monarchs posted an important 82-56 win over the University of Scranton
Tuesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 19-5 overall and
10-3 in Freedom Conference play. Scranton fell to 4-20 and 2-11. The win
was big for King's due to Wilkes' 71-68 victory over Lycoming. The win
dropped Lycoming to 10-3 in conference play as well as the Warriors have
two conference games left.
With DeSales routing Delaware Valley, both King's and Lycoming trail the
Bulldogs by one game. DeSales and Lycoming play in the final game of the
regular season on Saturday in a game which will weigh heavily on the
standings.
King's took a 32-27 lead into the halftime break but
the Monarchs shot 53.3 percent from the field in the second half to
outscore the Royals 50-29 over the game's final 20 minutes of play.
King's was led by Brian Horgan with 25 points and
seven rebounds while Britt Moore added 15 points and seven boards.
Jonathan Veet scored 11 points with six rebounds off the bench while Marty
O'Hora chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Scranton was led by Brian O'Donnell with 17 points
and 12 rebounds while Matt Snyder chipped in with 12 points.
King's will close out the regular-season Saturday at
3:00 p.m. against FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
