KING'S MEN RALLY TO DOWN DELAWARE VALLEY, 77-73

DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College men's basketball team overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to post a 77-73 victory over host Delaware Valley College in an MAC Freedom Conference matchup Saturday in Doylestown.

With the win, King's improved to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Delaware Valley slipped to 3-15 and 2-6.

King's struggled offensively in the first half, making just 11-of-27 shots from the field while committing 11 turnovers. The Aggies, meanwhile, made 16-of-37 shots, but canned six three-pointers to take a 38-31 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, King's flew out of the gates with a 18-4 run keyed by six points from Marty O'Hora and five from Dannie Evans. The Monarchs capped the run on a three-pointer from Jamar Stokes to take a 49-42 lead with 14:04 remaining. After the Aggies cut the lead to 51-48 on a three-pointer from Mike Thornton, King's would counter with a three-point play from Brian Horgan, a pair of baskets by Jonathan Veet, a bucket and two foul shots from Stokes, and a pair of charity tosses from Britt Moore to cap a 13-2 spurt and give the Monarchs a 64-50 lead with 6:35 left.

The Aggies would attempt to rally and closed to within 73-70 on a three-pointer from Isaiah Pickney with 0:22 left, but Stokes fouled on the ensuing possession and made two foul shots to push the lead to 75-70 with 0:21 left. Pickney was fouled on a three-point attempt and made all three free throws with 0:13 left to bring the Aggies to within 75-73 but Veet closed out the scoring with a basket with 0:06 remaining to seal the victory.

Stokes topped the Monarchs with 16 points and six rebounds while Horgan followed with 13 points and seven rebounds. O'Hora also added 13 points while Moore contributed 12 points and nine rebounds. Dannie Evans chipped in with 10 points and five assists.

Delaware Valley was paced by Thornton with 19 points while Erik Tegethoff added 17.

King's will host FDU-Florham on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in a makeup of a game which was rescheduled due to the snow last week. The Monarchs will then host Wilkes Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
