MONARCH MEN SUFFER 76-66 LOSS TO DESALES
CENTER VALLEY -- The DeSales University men's
basketball team shot 62.5 percent from three-point range and took
advantage of a decided advantage at the foul line as the host Bulldogs
posted an important 76-66 MAC Freedom Conference victory over King's
College Saturday in Center Valley.
DeSales, ranked 24th nationally in Division III,
improved to 12-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play in posting its 11th
straight win of the season. King's, which saw its six-game win streak come
to an end, fell to 12-3 and 3-1.
The Bulldogs canned 10-of-16 shots from three-point
range and also made an impressive 56.5 (26-46) percent of their overall
shots. DeSales, however, made 14-of-20 foul shots while King's went to the
foul line just five times in the game, converting three attempts.
Mike Venafra led the Bulldogs with 17 points while
Jim Zinn followed with 14. David Bright added 13 while David Spadt chipped
in with 10.
King's was led by Britt Moore who came off the bench
to score 14 points while Landon Gabriel followed with 12. Jamar Stokes and
Dave Marks added 10 points each. King's leading scorer Brian Horgan scored
just seven points and was saddled with foul trouble throughout the
contest. Horgan netted just two points in the first half after picking up
two fouls.
King's will next travel to face the University of
Scranton Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the John Long Center.
