MONARCH MEN CLINCH MAC PLAYOFF BERTH BY ROUTING FDU, 74-48

WILKES-BARRE -- With their backs to the wall, the King's College men's basketball team clinched an MAC Freedom Conference playoff berth when the Monarchs posted a crucial 74-48 victory over FDU-Florham Saturday in Madison, NJ.

With the victory, King's clinched the fourth and final Freedom Conference playoff spot while ending the regular season with a 16-9 overall mark as well as a 9-5 league record. FDU closed out its season at 11-14 and 4-10.

The Monarchs were led by Dannie Evans with 22 points and eight rebounds. Kasim Holloman followed with 11 points and eight boards. Steve Hite added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Dave Marks netted nine points with seven rebounds, while Marty O'Hora chipped in with seven points and five boards.

By earning the fourth seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs, King's will travel to face top-seeded Scranton Saturday at an expected 7:30 p.m. start in the John Long Center.
