KING'S OVERCOMES SLOW START TO DOWN FDU, 81-56
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's basketball
team overcame a sluggish first-half performance with a dominating
second-half effort as the Monarchs posted an important 81-56 victory over
visiting FDU-Florham in an MAC Freedom Conference victory Saturday in
Scandlon Gymnasium.
FDU took a 37-36 half-time lead when Jamaal Ford hit
a running 25-foot three-pointer at the buzzer. But the Monarchs would
catch fire in the second half and outscored the Devils 45-19 over the
final 20 minutes of the game to win going away.
King's was led by sophomore forward Marty O'Hora who
tallied 15 points and six rebounds against his former team. O'Hora
transferred to King's following his freshman year at FDU. Dannie Evans
added 14 points while Jamar Stokes followed with 13 off the bench. Britt
Moore scored 12 points with six rebounds, while Kasim Holloman chipped in
with 10 points and six assists.
FDU was led by Brian McCauley with 19 points while
Jeff Hemschoot and Ford followed with 11 and 10 respectively.
King's improved to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in MAC
Freedom play. The Devils fell to 6-10 and 0-6 in conference action.
The Monarchs will travel to face cross-town rival
Wilkes University Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Marts Center.
