MONARCH MEN FALL TO MUHLENBERG IN MORAVIAN TOURNEY OPENER.

BETHLEHEM -- Ryan Bonda's lay-up with 0:50 remaining broke a 66-66 tie as Muhlenberg College posted a 69-68 victory over the King's College men's basketball team in the opening round of the Greyhound Rock Classic Saturday at Moravian College, Bethlehem.

After Bonda's basket, King's had a chance to knot the score but Kasim Holloman missed both ends of a two-shot foul with 0:43 remaining. With 0:12 left, the Monarchs fouled Bonda who made one of two charity tosses to put the Mules on top 69-66. King's Jonathan Veet then scored with 0:09 left to bring King's to within one point but the Muhlenberg was able to run out the clock and hold on to the win.

Dannie Evans led King's (7-4) with 21 points while Dave Marcks followed with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Holloman netted 11 points while Britt Moore chipped in with 10.

Muhlenberg (5-5) was paced by Anthony Strachan with 18 points while Bonda and Toomay Anderson added 16 and 14 points respectively.

King's will play in the 1:00 p.m. consolation game Sunday against the loser of Muhlenberg and Connecticut College.
