KING'S DEFEATS MARYWOOD, 71-60

WILKES-BARRE -- Kasim Holloman scored 16 points and Jonathan Veet added 15 off the bench as the King's College men's basketball team posted a 71-60 victory over Marywood University Tuesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 4-3 on the year while Marywood fell to 2-5. The win also snapped a two-game losing streak for the Monarchs.

King's held a 33-20 half-time lead and increased its second-half advantage to 53-34 on consecutive baskets by Holloman with 9:13 left. Marywood would trim the lead to 66-58 with 0:52 on a three-pointer by Doug Billet but the Pacers would draw no closer.

Dannie Evans aided the Monarchs with 13 points while Marty O'Hora contributed 11 points and seven rebounds. Steve Hite chipped in with six points and 15 rebounds. Holloman added nine boards for the Monarchs.

Marywood was paced by John Cowan with 15 points while Doug Billet followed with 14 points. Joe Colangelo netted 11 points.

King's will now be idle until January 4-5 with the Holiday Inn/Monarch Classic.
