MEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS OPENER IN 2 OT’S TO ELIZABETHTOWN
ELIZABETHTOWN – Three months ago when King’s College men’s
basketball
coach J.P. Andrejko learned
the Monarchs would open the season against 2002 NCAA
Division III national runner-up Elizabethtown College, the second-year
mentor was excited about the matchup and
anxious to see how his team would fare
against a top opponent.
With two injured starters sitting nearby on the bench, however,
Andrejko did
not get the look he had
hoped for. Despite the absence of starting guard Brian
Horgan and power forward Dave Marks, however, the Monarchs showed their
depth in dropping a hard-fought 112-97
double-overtime loss to the powerful Blue
Jays.
The teams entered the second overtime tied at 92-92 but the Blue Jays
outscored King’s 20-5 over the final five
minutes.
Senior Kasim Holloman scored 30-points while sophomore Marty O’Hora
added 17
points with six rebounds.
Sophomore Britt Moore came off the bench to add 11 points
while junior guard Dannie Evans chipped in with six.
Brian Loftus led Elizabethtown with 30 points while Jon English
followed with
29.
King’s will play Lehman College in the 1:00 p.m. consolation game
Saturday.
Lehman dropped a 102-72
verdict to Clark in the first round.
