KING'S HOSTING ANNUAL RAMADA INN/MONARCH CLASSIC

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's basketball team will host the annual Ramada Inn/Monarch Classic beginning Tuesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.

In the first game, Susquehanna University will face Hood College in the 6:00 p.m. opener while King's squares off against Lebanon Valley College in the 8:00 p.m. nightcap.

King's enters the Monarch Classic with a 4-3 overall record after a 80-61 win over Baruch on December 8. Senior point-guard Jamie Cousart enters the tournament averaging 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. Senior forward Vince Scalzo follows with 11.3 points and 4.9 rebounds while senior center John Soboleski contributes 9.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and nine blocked shots. Senior guard-forward Jim Welsh adds 8.6 points and 2.0 rebounds with 17 three-pointers while senior guard Kofi Dwebeng nets 6.9 points with 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 10 three-pointers. Freshman center-forward Kevin Conroy has tallied 6.3 points and 2.4 rebounds while senior forward Ryan Nenstiel posts 5.6 points and 3.1 rebounds with six treys. Sophomore forward Jim Schule chips in with 3.9 points and 3.4 rebounds. King's averages 72.3 points per-game while allowing 68.1 each contest.

Lebanon Valley comes into the tournament with a 3-5 record after a 67-60 loss to Moravian on December 8.  The Flying Dutchmen are led by junior guard Kyle Enoch who averages 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists with 21 three-pointers. Sophomore forward James Shinn follows with 11.3 points and 4.4 rebounds. Junior guard Dan Hodge adds 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while senior forward Peter Ruth contributes 8.5 points and 6.1 rebounds. Sophomore guard Matt Staub nets 6.8 points and 2.3 assists while sophomore forward Dan Dunkelberger tallies 5.5 points and 3.0 boards. Junior forward Eric Humphrey chips in with 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds. Lebanon Valley averages 68.1 points per-game, while allowing 68.6 each contest.

Hood will carry a tournament-best 6-3 mark into the tournament following a 73-70 win over St. Mary's (Md.) College on December 8. Junior guard Ryan Junghans tops the Blazers with 19.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists with 24 three-pointers. Senior center Jesse Gutekunst follows with 18.2 points, 16.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 blocks while hitting seven three-pointers. Junior guard Anthony Bennett adds 11.0 points and 2.3 rebounds with nine treys while freshman forward Mark McGlone contributes 9.6 points and 4.0 rebounds with 14 three-pointers. Freshman forward Ryan McHenry tallies 6.2 points and 5.7 boards while sophomore guard Nick Scott chips in with 4.1 points with 16 assists. Hood averages 77.1 points per-game while allowing 67.3 each contest.

Susquehanna will bring a 4-4 overall record into the event following a 73-68 loss to Lycoming on December 8 ... The Crusaders are led by senior guard Josh Robinson who is averaging 20.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists with 19 three-pointers. Senor forward Kevin Cuff follows with 15.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists with 15 three-pointers. Junior forward Joel Patch adds 10.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 14 steals while senior guard Andy Gaebel contributes 5.6 points with 10 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Brian Majors averages 5.0 points and 2.0 rebounds while freshman forward Hunter McKain tallies 5.0 points and 2.7 rebounds. Senior forward Brad Okonak checks in with 4.5 points and six treys ... Susquehanna averages 72.6 points per-game, while allowing 70.2 each contest.

The tournament will resume on Wednesday with the consolation game slated for 5:00 p.m.  The championship game will then take place at 7:00 p.m. The all-tournament team and most valuable player award will be presented upon the completion of the event.
