KING'S STUNNED BY BAPTIST BIBLE IN OT
CLARKS SUMMIT -- Host Baptist Bible
College used an 11-0 run in overtime to stun the King's College men's
basketball team 77-8 Thursday in Clarks Summit.
With the win, the defenders improved to 304 while King's fell to 3-3.
The Monarchs needed a late rally just to get into overtime as the
Defenders held a 57-50 lead with 2:23 left. A bucket by Jamie Cousart,
and a three-pointer from Jim Welsh cut the lead to 57055 with 1:27
remaining.
After Khristian Collins missed a pair of foul shots for Baptist Bible
with 0:38 remaining, King's knotted the score at 57-7 on a basket by Jim
Schule with 0:31 on the clock to send the game into overtime.
Nate Penley would give the Defenders a 59-57 lead into overtime, but the
Monarchs recaptured the lead when Kofi Dwebeng buried a three-pointer to
put King's on top 60-59 with 3:41 left.
But the Defenders would outscore the Monarchs 9-0 the rest of the way
thanks to five points from Justin Cook to take a 70-60 lead with 1:03 on
the clock. The Monarchs would draw no closer than seven points the rest
of the way.
Cousart led all scorers with 28 points for King's while Welsh added 11
as the only Monarchs to reach double figures. John Soboleski added nine
points and 10 rebounds while Dwebeng netted nine points with seven
boards.
Cool led the Defenders with 20 points while Workman and Nathan Greve
netted 16 points each.
King's returns to action on Saturday when the Monarchs make their home
debut with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Baruch College in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
