KING'S MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO ALBRIGHT, MUST WAIT 800 WINS
READING -- Host Albright College raced out to
a 19-4 lead and never trailed as the Lions posted an 80-70 victory
over King's College in a non-conference men's basketball matchup
Tuesday in Reading.
With the win, Albright improved to 2-1 while the Monarchs slipped to
2-1 and will have to wait for another day to register the 800th
victory in program history.
Albright jumped out to the early lead and led by double figures
throughout much of the first half as the Lions led by as many as 16
points before taking a 43-29 lead into the half-time break.
In the second stanza, King's attempted to rally and closed to within
eight points on three occasions, the last time coming at 73-65 with
3:42 remaining, but would draw no closer.
Vince Scalzo led King's with 16 points and three rebounds while
Jamie Court followed with 14 points, five rebounds, and five
assists. Kofi Dwebeng and Jim Welsh had nine points each while John
Soboleski contributed with eight points and four rebounds.
Albright was led by Tom Murphy with 16 points while Albert Medoro
followed with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Andre Murphy chipped in
with 11 points and five assists.
The Monarchs will be idle until November 28 when
King's travels to Union, NJ to face Kean University at 8:00 p.m.
