SOBOLESKI GARNERS FREEDOM PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS FOR FOURTH
STRAIGHT WEEK

-- King's College senior basketball standout John Soboleski has been
named the MAC Freedom Conference Player of the Week, the MAC Office
announced.
Soboleski led King’s to a second straight
Freedom Conference championship and a berth in the Division III national
tournament with a pair of Freedom Conference tournament wins during the
week. In a 77-71 semi-final overtime win over Manhattanville, Soboleski
posted game highs of 24 points and 16 rebounds with four assists.
In a 71-62 championship game victory on the road at top-seeded DeSales,
he added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists. He shot 56.5
(13-23) percent from the floor and averaged 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds,
and 4.0 assists in the two games.
He was selected as the most valuable player of the Freedom tourney,
averaging 18.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in two tournament
games.
This season he averages 15.3 points and 7.7 rebounds, but over the last
six games has tallied an average of 20.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.2
assists, and 2.2 blocks per-game. He has helped the Monarchs to a 19-8
record, including a nine-game winning streak.
Soboleski and his Monarch teammates will host Clarkson University in a
first-round NCAA Division III National Tournament game Thursday at 7:00
p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium. Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 each
for seniors and students. Children age two or under shall be admitted
free.
