KING'S MEN POST IMPORTANT 74-66 WIN OVER DESALES
TO HAND BULLDOGS FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS
WILKES-BARRE -- John Soboleski scored a game-high
20 points and pulled down seven rebounds to power the King's College
men's basketball team to an important 74-66 Freedom Conference victory
over DeSales University Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
With the win, King's improved to 12-8 overall and 5-3 in Freedom
Conference games. DeSales, meanwhile, suffered its first loss in league
play, falling to 17-3 and 7-1.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as Soboleski's 13
points enable King's to take a 30-23 lead at the break. DeSales would
come out in the second half and used a quick 11-2 run to capture a 34-32
lead on a three-pointer by Ed Lapinski with 17:24 remaining.
Lapinski would later give the Bulldogs a 41-36 lead when he made a
bucket down low with 13:54 left in the contest. The Monarchs would

to recapture the lead at 45-43 with 9:53 on the clock. King's would then
extend the advantage to 54-49 on a three-pointer by Jim Schule with 7:20
remaining.
Soboleski would score six of the Monarchs next 10 points as the King's

left. The Bulldogs would attempt to make a late charge and cut the
lead to 69-63 on a lay-up by Eddie Ohlson with 1:02 on the clock but the
Monarchs made three-of-four foul shots and Jim Schule score on a
two-on-one break to seal the victory.
