JANUARY 30, 2008MONARCH MEN FALL TO MANHATTANVILLE IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME
PURCHASE, NY -- Codey Moffett and Brian Fink combined for 53 points as host Manhattanville College posted a 100-92 double-overtime victory over visiting King's College in a Freedom Conference matchup Wednesday in Purchase, NY.
With the loss, King's falls to 10-8 overall record while standing 3-3 in league play after a 93-79 victory over Arcadia on Saturday. Manhattanville, meanwhile, improved to 12-6 overall record while standing 4-2 in Freedom Conference play.
In the second overtime frame, King's trailed 85-83 but Ryan Nenstiel canned a three-pointer to give the Monarchs an 86-85 lead with 3:35 left.
The Valiants, however, would go on a critical 8-0 surge to take a 93-86 lead on a Fink basket with 1:7 remaining. King's cut the lead to 93-89 on a three-pointer form Kofi Dwebeng with 1:13 on the clock, but Manhattanville made 6-of-8 foul shots down the stretch to seal the victory.
Angelo Larouche added 15 points while Donte Chisolm contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.
Jamie Cousart led King's with 15 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while John Soboleski followed with 13 points and 10 boards.Vince Scalzo chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Monarchs will again take to the road on Saturday when King's travels to face FDU-Florham in a 3:00 p.m. Freedom Conference matchup.
