KING'S HOSTING CHALLENGER DIVISION BASEBALL
GAME
WILKES-BARRE -- As the
King's College baseball team prepares this week to defend its
Freedom Conference championship, the team will take a break from
workouts on Wednesday, May 2 for a more important endeavor.
The Monarchs will host the Wyoming Valley Challenger Division
Baseball League for an evening of fun, food and games at Betzler
Fields at 6:00 p.m.
This is an event that the King's baseball team
has participated in over the past five years to assist the local
league. This event has become an evening that is not only enjoyed by
the Challenger players, but is also cherished by the King's players
as one of their most rewarding experiences as college students.
Challenger division baseball is a league that
is designed for children that experience physical and/or mental
challenges and want to enjoy the game of baseball. Former King's
assistant coach Rob Cardoni, who passed away in December of 2005 was
an avid supporter of this event. Family, friends and former players
of Coach Cardoni donated over $1,700.00 over the past two years in
his memory to help support the local league.
For a fun and rewarding experience please come
out and help cheer on these super athletes in what King's coach
Jerry Greeley terms as "the most important event that is played in
the Wyoming Valley all year."
Members of the King's community, and residents
of the Wyoming Valley, are invited to attend . It will be a time to
be remembered.
