KING'S BASEBALL TEAM DOWNS DELAWARE VALLEY,
20-4
DOYLESTOWN --
It may have taken nearly three weeks for the King's College
baseball team to complete its three-game season series with Delaware
Valley College, but the Monarchs made the most of it by posting a
20-4 victory Monday in Doylestown.
Originally slated for April 5, the game had to be rescheduled on
four occasions due to inclement weather. The Monarch win enabled
King's to sweep the season series from Delaware Valley 3-0 while
improving to 23-7 overall and 13-4 in Freedom Conference play.
The Monarchs are also within three victories of breaking the
single-season school record of 25 wins set just a year ago.
Pat McGlynn paced a balanced Monarch attack by going 4-for-5 with
two runs scored and three RBI. J.R. Graver followed with a 3-for-6
effort, including a triple and three RBI. Mike Venarchick was
3-for-6 with an RBI triple and scored three runs. Matt Livoy
finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI double. Josh Faust went
2-for-5 with two RBI while Caleb Calarco contributed by going
2-for-5 with a double and RBI.
Jon Venarchick was 1-for-4 with a two-run double, while Gracjan
Kraszewski and Joe Tucker added RBI singles. Vince Budzyn was
1-for-4 with two runs while Joe VanBuskirk and Phil Moskowitz both
chipped in with one hit and one run scored apiece.
Freshman Eric Matula improved to 5-0 on the year, scattering eight
hits and striking out six batters in eight innings. Ryan Derry
tossed a hitless ninth while striking out one batter.
King's returns to action Tuesday when the Monarchs travel to
Artillery Park to face Wilkes University at 4:00 p.m.
