KING'S BASEBALL SWEPT BY DESALES AS 12-GAME
WIN STREAK COMES TO AN END
CENTER VALLEY
-- The King's baseball team saw its 12-game win streak come to an
end when the Monarchs dropped both ends of a Freedom Conference
doubleheader to DeSales University Saturday in Center Valley.
In the process, DeSales won the season series from King's 2-1,
improving to 16-8 overall and 9-2 in Freedom Conference play.
King's slipped to 19-5 and 10-3 in league games.
In the opener,
J.R. Graver led King's by going 2-for-4 with three RBI. Vince
Budzyn was 2-for-3 with two runs scored while Caleb Calarco was
2-for-3 with a double. Pat McGlynn also added two base hits for the
Monarchs.
Paul Giovannoli took the complete-game loss, allowing four earned
runs on nine base hits.
In the nightcap, King's would muster just five hits in the game,
with Jeremy Faust leading the way with a 2-for3, one-run effort.
Josh Faust, Budzyn, and McGlynn had one hit each while Matt Livoy
drove in King's lone run with a sacrifice fly.
King's is slated to face Susquehanna University Sunday at 12:00
noon at Betzler Fields.
