KING'S BASEBALL SPLITS WITTENBERG TO CONCLUDE SOUTHERN SWING
PORT CHARLOTTE -- The King's College baseball team concluded its
annual spring trip to Florida with a doubleheader split against
Wittenberg University Saturday in Port Charlotte.
Wittenberg won the first game 6-5 before King's posted a 7-5 decision in
the nightcap. The Monarchs ended their southern swing with a fine 7-2
record.
In the second game, Caleb Calarco went 2-for-3 and score a pair of runs
while also pitching a complete-game six-hitter. Calarco struck out five
batters while allowing three earned runs.
Mike Venarchick aided the cause by going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three
RBI, and scored two runs. Josh Faust was 2-for-3 while twin brother
Jeremy went 2-fofr-4 with an RBI. Vince Budzyn was 2-for-3 with an RBI
double while Matt Livoy chipped in by going 2-for-4 with an RBI.
In the opener, Pat McGlynn led King's offensively by going 2-for-3 with
a two-run double. J.R. Graver and Jon Venarchick also delivered RBI
singles. Mark Yankowski took the pitching loss in relief for the
Monarchs.
