KING'S BASEBALL EDGES LORAS, 3-2

WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman pitcher Dan Jenkins threw eight innings of two-hit baseball while striking out eight batters in his collegiate debut as the King's College baseball team defeated Loras College of Iowa 3-2 Monday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

With the win, King's improved to 2-1 on the year.

Jenkins enjoyed an outstanding first-game for King's as he allowed just one earned run and walked only two batters.  Offensively, Josh Faust was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Mike Venarchick went 1-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run for the Monarchs.

Pat McGlynn also went 1-for-4 with an RBI.  Caleb Calarco was 2-for-4 while J.R. Graver was 1-for-4 and scored a run.

King's returns to action Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. doubleheader against Bethany Lutheran.
