KING'S BASEBALL DEFEATS ARCADIA, WINS 20 GAMES FOR SECOND TIME IN
SCHOOL HISTORY
GLENSIDE -- The King's College baseball team reached the 20-win plateau
for the second time in school history as the Monarchs posted a 9-7
victory over Arcadia University in non-conference action Sunday in
Glenside.
With the win, King's improved to 20-14 on the year while Arcadia slipped
to 26-12.
J.R. Graver led the Monarch attack with a 5-for-6 showing with two runs
scored. Josh Faust was 3-for-5 with three RBI while Mike Venarchick also
went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Matt Livoy was 3-for-6 with a run and RBI
while Nick Sorino, Rob Medlock, Vince Budzyn, and Caleb Calarco all
contributed with two hits each.
Medlock picked up the pitching victory for King's in relief of starter
Paul Giovannoli. Medlock went four innings and allowed eight hits and
three earned runs. Giovannoli pitched the first five innings and allowed
two runs on four hits while striking out five batters.
King's will wrap up the regular-season on Tuesday when the Monarchs host
College Misericordia in a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader at Betzler Fields.
The Monarchs will compete in the Freedom Conference championships Friday
through Sunday at Quakertown Memorial Park in Quakertown.
King's will be seeded second in the event and will face six-time
defending champion DeSales, the tournament's third seed. King's and
DeSales played three times during the year with the Monarchs winning all
three closely contested games.
