KING'S BASEBALL POSTS 22-6 WIN AT MORAVIAN
ALLENTOWN -- The King's College baseball team produced its largest run
total of the year as the Monarchs posted a 22-6 victory over Muhlenberg
College Friday in Allentown.
With the win, the Monarchs improved to 19-14 while Muhlenberg slipped to
15-17-1. The Monarchs previous scoring high was during a 20-10 win over
Penn State Berks on March 22.
King's held an 8-4 lead after seven but the Monarchs exploded for eight
runs in the eighth and six more in the ninth to put the game away.
Nick Sorino led King's 21-hit attack by going 4-for-7 with three runs
and an RBI. Matt Livoy was 2-for-7 with five RBI, including a three-run
triple. Rob Medlock went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Mike Venarchick was
2-for-6 with four runs and an RBI triple. Caleb Calarco was 2-for-5 with
a double and two RBI while Jeremy Faust went 2-for-4 with three runs and
an RBI.
Josh Faust added two hits, two runs and an RBI while J.R. Graver
contributed with a base hits and two RBI. Vince Budzyn scored two runs
and knocked in a run to aid the King's attack.
Calarco picked up the pitching victory, allowing four runs on eight hits
while striking out five batters in six innings of work. Tim Granquist
threw the final three innings for the Monarchs, allowing two runs on
four hits.
King's will return to action Sunday when the Monarchs travel to Glenside
to face Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m.
