MARYWOOD EDGES KING'S, 5-3

SCRANTON, PA - Marywood University used a late rally to post a 5-3 win over visiting King's College Thursday afternoon in non-conference baseball action Thursday afternoon.

With the win, Marywood improved to 13-10 while winning five straight games since a 10-5 loss to King's on March 28. The Monarchs, meanwhile, slipped to 12-10.

Marywood would take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth after Jason Kromko singled to center and moved to second after an error on a run-down kept Kromko on the base paths. Bill Hall's fly out to right allowed Kromko to move to third and eventually score on Dan D'Antonio's sacrifice fly to center. Ritchie then hit his second double of the game, which would score Pat Diskin to give the Pacers a 2-0 lead.

King's would battle back to take a 3-2 lead in the eighth inning. Rob Medlock led off with a single to center, but was forced out at second, allowing Nick Sorino to reach base on a fielder's choice. Josh Faust then singled to right, giving the Monarchs runners on first and second with one out.

Graver then hit an RBI infield single as Sorino scored to make it 2-1. John Venarchick then singled to right, scoring Faust to knot the game at 2-2.
Caleb Calarco then drove in Graver from third on an infield grounder to give King's the 3-2 lead.

Marywood, however, would rally with three-runs in the bottom of the eighth.  Ryan Long singled to right center to start the rally and Matt Fidati followed with a base hit to left. Kromko then doubled down the right field line, scoring Long to make it 3-3. D'Antonio would later single to score Fidati and Kromko.

J.R. Graver went 2-3 with an RBI for King's while Medlock went 2-for-4. John McNichol took the loss in relief, allowing three earned runs in two and one-thirds innings.

King's will host Delaware Valley College Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
