KING'S BASEBALL SWEPT BY PENN STATE ALTOONA
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL -- The
King's College baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Penn
State Altoona Wednesday in Port Charlotte, Fl.
The Monarchs, lost the opener 7-6 before falling 8-1 in the nightcap,
stand at 2-4 on the year.
In the first game, King's held a 6-5 lead heading into the bottom of the
seventh inning. The Monarchs would issue to walks to start the inning.
Later, a sacrifice fly by Bill Scelsi knotted the score at 6-6.
Another bases on balls along with a hit batter would load the bases with
two outs. From there, Monarch relief pitcher Matt Livoy walked Paul
Keith to force in the winning run.
Jon Venarchick was 2-for-4 with two RBI, including a solo home run in
the fourth inning. Josh Faust and Vince Budzyn added two hits each for
the Monarchs.
In the second game, King's took a 1-0 first inning lead on an RBI single
by Livoy. Penn State Altoona, however would plate two runs in the
second, four in the fifth, and two more in the sixth to seal the
victory.
Livoy led the Monarchs with a 3-for-3 showing while Jon Venarchick added
a pair of hits. J.T. Levonick took the loss for King's, allowing three
earned runs on seven hits with five strikeouts in four and a third
innings of work.
