KING'S BASEBALL TEAM SPLITS WITH HEIDELBERG
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's
College baseball team split a doubleheader against Heidelberg University
to even its mark at 2-2 at the Port Charlotte Invitational Monday in
Port Charlotte, Fla.
King's won the first game 2-1 before dropping the nightcap 1-0.
In the opener, Caleb Calarco picked up the pitching victory, scattering
six hits over seven innings. Calarco allowed one earned run while
striking out six batters and walking one. J.R. Graver was 2-for-3 with a
run while Mike Venarchick was 2-3 and scored the eventual game-winning
run in the sixth inning off an RBI single by Matt Livoy.
In the nightcap, King's managed just two hits against Heidelberg as Nick
Sorino was 1-for-2 with a double while Calarco was 1-for-3. Gary
Mazur was the hard-luck loser, allowing just one earned run on six hits
while striking out three batters and walking just one a complete-game
seven inning effort
The Monarchs will be off until Wednesday when King's plays a
doubleheader against Penn State Altoona at 10:30 a.m.
