KING'S BASEBALL TEAM SPLITS WITH HEIDELBERG

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team split a doubleheader against Heidelberg University to even its mark at 2-2 at the Port Charlotte Invitational Monday in Port Charlotte, Fla.

King's won the first game 2-1 before dropping the nightcap 1-0.

In the opener, Caleb Calarco picked up the pitching victory, scattering six hits over seven innings. Calarco allowed one earned run while striking out six batters and walking one. J.R. Graver was 2-for-3 with a run while Mike Venarchick was 2-3 and scored the eventual game-winning run in the sixth inning off an RBI single by Matt Livoy.

In the nightcap, King's managed just two hits against Heidelberg as Nick Sorino was 1-for-2 with a double while Calarco was 1-for-3.  Gary Mazur was the hard-luck loser, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out three batters and walking just one a complete-game seven inning effort

The Monarchs will be off until Wednesday when King's plays a doubleheader against Penn State Altoona at 10:30 a.m.
