FDU BASEBALL RALLIES PAST KING'S, 9-8

WILKES-BARRE - Visiting FDU-Florham overcame a 6-1 deficit and pushed across three runs in the eighth inning to post a 9-8 come-from-behind victory over host King's College Friday at Betzler Fields.

The win improved FDU to 18-8 overall and 7-5 in the MAC Freedom Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 17-10 and 6-7 in league play.

After FDU scored a run its first at-bat, the Monarchs answered with two in the bottom of the first when Jason Siebert and Josh Faust singled, followed by RBI singles Jeremy Faust and Rob Medlock. The Monarchs added two more in the second inning When Dan Buckley singled on moved to third on a base hit from Vince Budzyn. After Matt Livoy walked to advance Budzyn to second base, Jeremy Faust drilled a two-run single up the middle to give the Monarchs a 4-1 lead.

In the fifth, the Monarchs added two more runs when Jeremy Faust tripled and scored on a wild pitch. Jeff Wells would double before scoring on a base hit from Medlock as the Monarch lead grew to 6-1.

FDU, though would respond with five runs in the sixth to tie the score at 6-6. King's answer immediate with a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings to take a 8-6 lead.

But in the top of the eighth inning, Rob Porcaro had an RBI double, followed by a run-scoring single from Luke Cittone and an RBI double by Jim DaSilva to give the Devils a 9-8 lead. King's would advance runner to second base in both the eighth and ninth frames but were unable to score as FDU walked away with the victory.

Jeremy Faust led the Monarchs' 15-hit attack with a 3-for-3, two-run, two RBI effort. Medlock was 3-for-4 with two RBI while Josh Faust was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Jeff Wells added two hits while Jason Siebert scored two runs for the Monarchs. Tim Granquist took the loss in relief of starter Paul Giovannoli. Granquist allowed one run on two hits with three walks in two innings of work.

Cittone paced FDU by going 4-for-6 with a double and two runs. DaSilva was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI. D.J. Hanna and Porcaro had two hits each. Kyle Sternadori picked up the win relief of starter Ryan Flannery while Chris Voitsberge received a save.

King's and FDU are slated to square off again Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader in Madison, NJ
