MONARCH BASEBALL TEAM ROUTES MORAVIAN, 13-3
BETHLEHEM -- The King's
College baseball team improved to 13-7 on the year as the Monarchs posted
a 13-3 victory over host Moravian College Wednesday in Bethlehem.
King's took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Matt Livoy drilled a solo
home run. After Moravian scored three runs in the second inning, the
Monarchs countered with four runs in the third inning to take the lead for
good.
Jason Siebert led off the inning with a single, followed by a walk to Matt
Livoy. Jeremy Faust then delivered an RBI single, followed by a walk to
Josh Faust. Rob Medlock then came through with a two-run single before Dan
Buckley lofted a sacrifice fly to plate Josh Faust to give the Monarchs a
5-3 advantage.
King's added two more runs in the fourth when Siebert walked and scored on
a triple from Livoy. Jeremy Faust then delivered an RBI single to
extend the lead to 7-3.
Siebert and Livoy were both 2-for-4 with three runs and ad two RBI.
Jeremy and Josh Faust were each 2-for-5 while Vince Budzyn went 2-for-4.
Kyle Ehlis picked up the pitching victory, pitching six innings and
allowing three runs, on six hits, one which was earned. Ehlis also struck
out seven batters. Brian Burden pitched two scoreless inning while Tim
Granquist threw one shutout inning.
King's will next travel to Doylestown on Friday to face Delaware Valley
College, before returning to host the Aggies in a 1:00 p.m.
doubleheader as part of the team's three-game series.
