KING'S BASEBALL SWEEPS NY MARITIME
NEW YORK, NY -- The King's
College baseball team posted a doubleheader sweep of New York Maritime
College Thursday in New York City.
King's won the first game 24-3, the captured the nightcap 11-1 in a
five-inning game called due to darkness. With the sweep, the
Monarchs improved to 7-3 on the year.
In the opener, J.R. Graver went 2-for-3, including a grand slam home run
in the fourth inning. Nick Sorinio belted a first-inning three-run home
run while Vince Budzyn and Jeremy Faust also added solo home runs.
Dan Buckely was 2-for-3 while Matt Livoy and Caleb Calarco were both
2-for-4. Monarch starter Kyle Ehlis pitched three scoreless innings
before giving way to winning pitcher Tim Grandquist who allowed three runs
while striking out nine batters.
In the nightcap, Calarco was 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Buckley went
3-for-4 with a double. Faust was 2-for-2 to help pace the Monarch
attack. Brian Burden picked up the pitching win, allowing one
unearned run while striking out seven batters.
King's travels to Drew University Friday for a 3:0 p.m. single game. The
Monarchs will then host Drew Saturday at 12:00 noon in a doubleheader at
Betzler Fields.
