KING'S BASEBALL SPLITS WITH MT. UNION
PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA -- The
King's College baseball team split a doubleheader with Mt. Union College
Friday in Port Charlotte.
King's won the first game 4-3 before dropping the nightcap 2-1 to stands
at 3-3 on their annual southern trip.
Paul Giovannoli tossed a complete-game five hitter in the opener, while
striking out five batters. Caleb Calacro was 2-for-3 on the day while Mike
Venarchick added a two-run single. Pat McGlynn was 1-for-4, including a
solo home run.
In the nightcap, the Monarchs avoided a Mt. Union no-hit bid when Nick
Sorino posted an RBI single in the seventh to score Matt Livoy. Freshman
Joe Jenkins was solid on the hill and was the hard-luck loser with 6 and
one-third innings pitched.
