JENKINS NAMED TO ECAC SOUTHERN REGION
ALL-STAR SECOND-TEAM
WILKES-BARRE -- King's College senior Charlie
Jenkins (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) has been named to the ECAC
Southern Region all-star team as a second-team selection.
Jenkins was named to the team at third
base after concluding a stellar final season with the Monarchs. Jenkins
led King's to a final record of 19-18-1 and the second seed in the Freedom
Conference playoffs. It marks the Monarchs first post-season appearance
since 1996.
On the year, Jenkins batted .406
(56-138) with 12 doubles, four home runs, two triples, and 38 RBI with a
.609 slugging percentage. His 56 base hits also stands as a single-season
record at King's. Jenkins was a first-team All-Freedom Conference
selection.
"We are very proud of Charlie and
all he has accomplished at King's," head coach Jerry Greeley stated.
"Charlie was an extremely hard worker and an excellent team leader.
He is a great role model for the younger players and we would not have had
the success we enjoyed this season without him. Charlie is an outstanding
young man and he will be greatly missed next year."
