KING'S BASEBALL FALLS TO MUHLENBERG, 9-2

WILKES-BARRE -- Visiting Muhlenberg College scored four runs in each of the second and third innings as the Mules posted a 9-2 victory over King's College in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday at Betzler Fields.

With the loss, the Monarchs fell to 18-14-1 while Muhlenberg improved to 12-17-1.

Chad Hegstrom was 3-for-4 for Muhlenberg while Pete Oris was 2-for-5, including a solo home run. Joel Rush and Ryan Sassaman each had two hits while scoring two runs.

King's was led by Geoff Ashton who was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Jason Seibert went 2-for-5 while scoring a run. Tim Granquist took the loss for King's yielding eight runs in two and two-thirds innings.

The Monarchs will next host Wilkes University Friday at 3:30 p.m. before facing the Colonels Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Artillery Park. The Monarchs can clinch their first conference playoff berth since 1996 with one win in their three-game set with Wilkes.
