KING'S BASEBALL DOWNS MARYWOOD 7-6 IN 12 INNINGS

WILKES-BARRE -- Geoff Ashton drove in Tim Granquist with the game-winning run in the bottom of the 12th inning as the King's College baseball team posted a 7-6 victory over Marywood University Wednesday at Betzler Fields.

King's trailed 6-5 heading into the final at-bats. Nick Sorino would single while Charlie Jenkins reached base on an error. Ashton was then intentionally walked to load the bases. Bill Medlock lofted a fly ball to right field and Sorino would bluff an attempt to tag from third base on the play. But an errant throw home on the play allowed the Monarch sophomore to score the tying run and send the game into extra innings.

Matt Loringer picked up the win in relief for King's, pitching three innings and striking out four batters. Ashton led King's with three hits while Mike Venarchick added two

Mike Piercy and Ryan Federico led Marywood with two hits each.

The Monarchs will next host FDU-Florham Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields
