KING'S BASEBALL POSTS 3-1 WIN OVER DREW

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College baseball team pushed across two runs in the seventh inning as the Monarchs posted a 3-1 victory over visiting Drew University Friday at Betzler Fields.

With the win, the Monarchs snapped a four-game losing streak while improving to 11-10-1 overall and 6-3 in Freedom Conference play. Drew slipped to 9-15 and 2-6

With the game tied 1-1, in the bottom half of the seventh inning, Adam Tkaczyk led off with a walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jeremy Faust. Vince Budzyn would then single to move Tkaczyk to third. Bill Drazdowski would then deliver an RBI single to put the Monarchs ahead 2-1. Nick Sorino followed with a base hit to bring home Budzyn to up the King's lead to 3-1.

King's trailed 1-0 after the first inning but tied the game in the second when Charlie Jenkins reached base on an error and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Geoff Ashton.

Matt Loringer picked up the complete game victory for King's, scattering eight hits while striking out four batters. Josh Faust led King's offensively with a 3-for-4 effort.

John Henrikson led Drew with two hits.

King's will travel to Madison, NJ today to face Drew in a 1:00 p.m. conference doubleheader.
