KING'S BASEBALL POSTED 17-14 WIN OVER DESALES IN SLUGFEST

CENTER VALLEY -- The King's College baseball team posted a big early season win as the Monarchs posted a 17-14 victory over defending MAC Freedom Conference champion DeSales University Wednesday in Center Valley in a game called after eight innings due to darkness.

With the win, King's improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Monarchs trailed 5-4 before exploding for nine runs in the fifth inning. Jason Seibert led off the inning with a walk and advanced on an error before the Monarchs went to work. Charlie Jenkins followed with an RBI single before back-to-back walks drove in a pair of runs. Geoff Ashton then drove in a run on an infield out before Adam Tkaczyk walked to force in another run. Bill Drazdowki them drilled a three-run double to give King's a 13-5 lead.

Drazdowski was 2-for-6 with four RBI while Ashton went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Jenkins was 3-for-6 and scored three runs while Jeremy Faust was 3-for-5 with two RBI and scored four runs. Vince Budzyn was 3-for-6 with an RBI while Tkaczyk was 2-for-4.

Rob Medlock earned the win in relief of starter Matt Loringer, pitching three and two-thirds while allowing four earned runs while registering four strikeouts.
