MONARCH BASEBALL TEAM SPLITS FIRST TWO
GAMES
HOMESTEAD, FLA -- The King's College
baseball team opened the 2004 season by splitting its first two games.
King's dropped a hard-fought 2-1 verdict to NCAA Division II Upper Iowa
University before posting a 7-3 decision over Becker College.
In the opener, Matt Loringer pitched an
outstanding game in suffering the loss. Loringer pitched six innings and
allowed just four hits while striking out five batters. Mike Venarchick
had a double for King's while Charlie Jenkins, Nick Sorino, and Jason
Seibert all went 1-for-3.
In the nightcap, Jenkins was 2-for-4
with an RBI while Adam Tkaczyk was 1-for-3 with three RBI. Chris Persak
picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing three runs and six
hits while striking out two batters. Bill Medlock picked up the save,
tossing two innings of hitless ball while striking out two hitters.
