KING'S BASEBALL SPLITS WITH DEL-VALLEY
(Monarchs take two-of-three in season
series)
DOYLESTOWN -- The King's College
baseball team captured its season series with Delaware Valley College
after splitting a doubleheader in Doylestown. The Monarchs won the first
game 9-6 before dropping the nightcap 11-4. Combined with a 11-7 win over
Delaware Valley on Wednesday, King's won their season series 2-1.
In the opener, the Monarchs opened a
9-0 lead after five innings and held off a late Aggie rally as Delaware
Valley scored all six runs in the sixth inning. Bill Drazdowski led the
way for King's with a 3-for-5 showing. Jeremy Sauers was 2-for-3 with two
RBI; Nick Sorino and Seth Temple were both 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI;
Charlie Jenkins was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Matt Loringer picked up the
complete-game pitching victory, striking out eight batters while allowing
eight hits and one walk.
In the nightcap, the Monarchs were led
by Sauers who was 1-for-3 with two RBI. Jason Melendez and Sorino also
added RBI's for the Monarchs who stand at 10-3 overall and 5-9 in MAC
Freedom play. The Aggies slipped to 14-7 and 5-4 in conference action.
King's will travel to Scranton Monday
for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Connell Park.
