KING'S BASEBALL GOES 3-1 IN FIRST FOUR
GAMES
Homestead, FL -- The King's College
baseball season kicked off the 2003 season in fine fashion as the Monarchs
went 3-1 over their first four games.
King's posted a 9-6 victory over Becker
College, then dropped a 9-1 verdict to NAIA member Madonna College. The
Monarchs then earned a 11-4 victory over Bethel before gaining a 12-3
decision over Becker.
In the first win over Becker Paul Kapral picked up the win in hurling six and
one-thirds innings. Kapral struck out six and allowed one walk and four
earned runs in his season debut. Charlie Jenkins led King's with a two RBI
and score two runs.
Against Madonna, Chris Persak was the
Monarchs top hitter with a 2-for-4 showing while scoring a run. Bill
Serafin picked up the pitching loss after yielding eight runs in five
innings.
In their win over Bethel, the Monarchs
out banged 17 hits on the day. Freshman Jeff Wells was 3-for-5 with an RBI
and two runs. Jenkins went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Jeremy Sauers was
3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs. Matt Loringer picked up the
complete-game, allowing six hits and three earned runs with six strikeouts
in seven innings.
In King's second win over Becker,
Branden Kieffer picked up the pitching victory, posting six strikeouts and
allowing two earned runs in five innings. Chris Rispoli was 2-for-4 with
two RBI; Jenkins added two RBI; Nick Sorino went 2-for-4 with one runs;
while Bill Drazdowski was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
